As per tradition, our CEO and Co-Founder, Antti Hämmäinen, shares about another year at Synergi, the current challenges surrounding the energy sector, and what is on the horizon for the new year.
2024 has been full of many significant milestones for Synergi, and we want to thank everyone who has supported us - customers, investors, partners, our community, family & friends, and especially all our users! Thank you for your trust in Synergi and for playing an inspirational role in our growth. We are more driven than ever to keep developing our platform and help make energy use smart and flexible for all.
To start off, here is our year in review:
In 2024, we’ve grown from hundreds of Synergi app users, to helping thousands of households save hundreds of euros each year by optimizing energy use at the cleanest and cheapest hours. This includes their flexible home energy assets we support - EVs, heat pumps and solar energy systems.
Synergi’s progress has not gone unnoticed. This year, we were featured in the media alone over 30 times. Most notably in ‘Helsingin Sanomat’, the leading newspaper in Finland.
In February, Synergi was selected out of 430+ startups as one of the most promising climate & energy startups of 2024 by the Start Up Energy Transition. And more recently in November, we took part in the Energy Transition Innovators Pitching Competition at Enlit Europe, where we won an award as the winning showcase in our category.
Raising €2M to build the future of household flexibility
In October, we were thrilled to close a €2M seed funding round led by Greencode Ventures with participation from Vaens and existing investors Lifeline Ventures, APX & Wave Ventures.
Our partnership with Greencode Ventures and Vaens brings valuable industry expertise to our team. Greencode Ventures offers deep specialization in the green transition and scaling digital solutions, while Vaens is driven by a passion for empowering startup teams to tackle the planet's most pressing issues. We are proud to resonate and align with their mission, and welcome their experience and advisory to help Synergi navigate the growth challenges ahead.
With this new funding, we expanded our team, resources and technology capabilities as we continue our mission to plug European homes and utilities into flexibility markets.
Growing our team and flexible load
Our team grew again with the addition of Ida (Customer Success) before the summer. In the autumn, we relocated to a bigger office space to accommodate our growing team. Shortly after, we welcomed Isa (Head of Operations) and Samuel (Marketing) as we ramped up grid flexibility efforts to bring utilities, consumers, and energy retailers together in 2025.
Synergi is transforming into a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), empowering thousands of households to optimize energy consumption and soon earn rewards. With demand response, our goal is to balance energy usage during grid congestion and position households as key contributors to grid stability.
Ready for another promising year
Our team at Synergi is ready for another year of building towards a cleaner and just energy system for everyone. We are currently expanding our foothold throughout Europe to make sure every household in Europe has the right tools to make the most out of their electricity usage.
We’re constantly working with our partners to provide the best energy use experience for their end-customers, and making our national and local grids even more flexible and reliable.
To close out 2024, we are really excited to see what the new year brings. We believe that our rapidly developing platform will genuinely benefit every household and unlock the limitless potential of flexibility markets for consumers and stakeholders through-out the energy industry.
At this point, I’d like to express my warm gratitude to everyone who’s been part of our journey thus far. Our rapidly growing users who trust us in their energy matters, and help us make the product better everyday. Our utility partners who help us create the energy system of the future. And most importantly, the whole Synergi team who I have the absolute pleasure to work with everyday, we could not do this without such an amazing group of individuals.
